Do you have students who have either never inverted or plateaued in their inversion strength? Pilates is an excellent tool for helping students recruit their entire body for big tasks! This workshop will begin with mat Pilates exercises that can be incorporated into any aerial warm-up. We will then transition into the air to analyze tuck, pike, straddle, and other inversions for full recruitment of kinetic chains (muscles connected by fascia working in succession). This analysis will give teachers more tools for observing and cueing movement. At the end of the workshop we will address specific questions about applications of Pilates in the aerial class.
