This workshop will not cover the basics of LGBTQ+ vocabulary and concepts. If you have questions like "what does 'queering' mean?" or "what is the difference between 'trans', 'transgender', and 'transgendered'?" please consider attending LGBTQ+ 101 on Friday.

Join Johnny Blazes of Esh Circus Arts for an intersectional discussion on ways to create safe, inclusive spaces for LGBTQ youth and adults in the circus world, both in the studio and onstage. Johnny will share thoughts on strategies and policies that have worked at Esh, and open the floor for discussion among participants about how to adapt those ideas for different regions, age groups, and populations. This workshop is open to educators, administrators, parents, and anyone else with a stake in creating a more welcoming circus community. As a long-time educator and LGBTQ advocate, Johnny brings many years of personal and professional experience to the conversation, as well as a desire to hear *your* ideas, setback, and solutions. Let's dream big together!
